About Sharpen Up Tutoring
Sharpen Up Tutoring is a traveling tutoring service dedicated to helping young students, kindergarten through grade 3, master foundational learning skills while increasing confidence and building healthy self-esteem. Founded by Samantha Petruccelli, a former educator, her mission is to provide individualized instruction that meets the needs of each child while fostering a true love for learning. Using hands-on and multisensory activities, key concepts and skills are introduced and reinforced in a way that reduces anxiety and sparks student curiosity.
What sets Sharpen Up Tutoring apart is our comprehensive, family-centered approach. Beyond direct instruction, we maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers, while actively supporting parents in navigating school districts to obtain appropriate evaluations and student support services.
Samantha holds a Master’s degree in Education with a Special Education concentration, as well as several professional teaching certifications. Her expertise comes from years of classroom teaching experience in NYC, as well as time spent working as a Special Education Itinerant Teacher in Westchester. As a parent herself, Samantha has first-hand experiences advocating for the educational rights of her own children.
Samantha is passionate about using her knowledge and skills to enrich the academic experiences of young learners who need it most, ensuring that all students receive expert instruction, tailored to their specific needs.
Sharpen Up Tutoring is currently servicing Westchester County in the areas of Bronxville, Tuckahoe, and Eastchester.

Individualized Instruction
Customized, one-on-one tutoring in literacy, writing, and math for kindergarten to grade 3 students. Sessions are tailored to your child’s learning style and pace, with flexible frequency and duration to fit your child’s needs and your family’s schedule. Currently providing weekend services in the comfort of your own home.
Collaboration & Support
We work closely with classroom teachers to ensure consistency in your child’s learning. We also provide parental support in navigating school districts, obtaining appropriate evaluations, and securing support services.
Student Advocacy
Participation in school meetings where we provide additional professional perspective and student advocacy. Our expertise assists your child in receiving the support and accommodations they need to succeed socially, academically, and emotionally.
